The traditional auctioneer is most proficient in fast talking, or “chanting” as it is called in the auction industry.  They can go through many auction items in a short period of time, and quickly try and get to the highest possible bid on each item.  Traditional auctioneers are most suited and needed at heavy equipment auctions, auto auctions, and general merchandise auctions.

Used sometimes at charity and benefit auctions are volunteer or celebrity auctioneers.  While they can be entertaining at times, it is not recommended to use volunteers if you would like to raise the most possible funds at your auction.  Celebrity auctioneers are good for established events that generally raise high funds consistently ($1,000,000++).   Investing in a professional benefit auctioneer, or charity auctioneers services is generally the best way to make your auction a success.
